Lot Essay

The winner of the Gentlemen's Singles Championship becomes the holder, for the year only, of the President's Cup, which was presented by King George V in 1907. The President's Cup is kept permanently at the All England Club. Since 1949 winners have received a miniature replica, and the hallmark indicates that Perry was honoured with this miniature replica in 1973, despite being a pre-war Champion.
