A late 19th-Century planetarium, the 4¼-inch (11cm.) diameter terrestrial miniature globe signed J. Felkl a syn Roztoky u Prahy, made up of twelve colour printed paper gores (some old abrasions and repairs), the steel axis encased in twin brass collars, with geared motion and drive to the planets and moon via a crank mechanism, the horizontal dial printed with Zodiac calendar, the centre with spirit reservoir and lamp and glass chimney, with reflector and pointer, the drive shaft housing with scroll support mounted on a baluster-shaped and moulded circular plinth base modelled in iron, with copperised finish -- 33in. (84cm.) long overall
