depicting Galileo seated on a stone wall, holding in his left hand a gilded-brass tablet depicting the rotation of a celestial body, stamped ROTAT, with celestial and terrestrial globes, moulded in relief, the terrestrial with stamped meridian circle and many countries named in Latin, the celestial with hour pointer, stars, the Zodiac circle and other information, both horizon rings with Zodiac and calendar scales, supported by three winged-lion masks on a triform base, each sphere with detachable cover, the marble base with pen trough supported on four acanthus leaf and rosette moulded feet -- 14½in.
