Of tapering concave rectangular form, the cover richly decorated with the scene of ducks swimming on a pond, geese flying overhead, pheasants roosting in a blossoming tree at the waters edge within reeds and flowering foliage, a dwelling on the brow of a hillock beyond, the casket banded with faux bamboo to the angles, the side carved with square relief panels of chrysantehmum, lotus, roses and other flowers within cloud bands, the interior gilt lacquered, a signature panel to the bottom left corner of the cover
