A Vienna style dark blue ground covered tankard
painted with a scene of Paris and Aphrodite within oval panel reserved on richly gilt rectangular border with raised ornament, the ground gilt with scrolling foliage between bands of leaves, the cover painted with a figure of Hope, the interior cover with Venus and Cupid, with a metal mount and crown thumb piece, blue shield mark, circa 1900 (slight wear and minor damage to hinge) -- 16cm. high
