Lot Essay

From his pottery in Fremington Edwin Beer Fishley produced a large range of ware in the English slipware tradition. He was branded 'the last of the English country potters' and his work greatly inspired other potters including Michael Cardew and his influence can be seen in the early works of Bernard Leach.
