Lot Essay

The company Escalier de Cristal was created by Mme Desarnaud, nee Maris-Jeanne-Rosalie Charpentier, and was celebrated during the Restauration for crystal and bronze mounted objects. Furniture production commenced during the reign of Louis Philippe, specialising in the production of high quality 18th century style furniture. The company underwent several changes of ownership during the second half of the 19th century.
