In The Style Of The 15th Century
With sharply-tapering straight double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, bright iron hilt with long straight quillons, lozenge-shaped pommel with oval recess in each face, and wooden velvet-covered grip encased in a network of gilt wire with gilt Turk's heads at top and bottom, in wooden scabbard covered with red silk (damaged) with gilt-copper chape and two lockets (slight damage, gilding rubbed)

This was probably one of the pieces designed by Guy Laking and made by Felix Joubert of Chelsea in circa 1910 for Seymour Hicks's celebrated production of Shakespeare's Richard III. See G.F. Laking, 'Armaments of the Stage', Connoisseur, June 1911, pp. 105-8
