A Rare Mahogany Powder Magazine
By John Manton & Son, Dover Street, London, Circa 1830
Lined in green baize and fitted for two japanned iron cannisters, each painted "Gunpowder" in gold letters on one side, with detachable brass nozzle, lacquered brass screw-on cap, and folding carrying handle (one replaced), the lid with trade label (stained) for circa 1824-1844, the exterior with flush-fitting carrying handle and circular escutcheon engraved 'Gunpowder'
9in. (22.8cm.) high, 10 5/8in. (27cm.) wide, 7½in. (19cm.) deep
