A Cased 14-Bore D.B. Percussion Sporting Gun

With rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed in full on the rib, engraved patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug, long tang engraved with foliage and a pheasant, signed engraved back-action locks (one screw replaced), figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, engraved iron mounts, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass-mounted ramrod: in original fitted mahogany case lined in blue velvet with some accessories including leather shot-belt and Hawksley flask, the lid with trade label (address changed to 27, Pall Mall during the gun's working life), the outside with flush-fitting carrying handle, London proof marks

Sold with a photocopy of the maker's original order book for this gun, built for the Rev. E. Mortlock, identifying the separate workmen and giving the dates of the completion of the various stages of manufacture
