A Pair Of 18-Bore French Silver-Mounted Flintlock Pistols

With lightly belled barrels retaining much of their punched and gilt decoration and traces of the original blued finish, silver fore-sights, and engraved tangs (engraving worn on one), bevelled locks engraved with rococo designs and witha putto on each tail, moulded figured walnut full stocks (minor cracks and bruising) carved in relief with a floral spray behind each barrel tang and with foliage behind each rear ramrod-pipe, and inlaid with silver wire in the butts, silver mounts cast and chased with rococo ornament on a punched ground, including pierced side-plates (one incomplete) and spurred pommels each with oval cap cast and chased with a sun in splendour, silver ramrod-pipes, and original iron-tipped ramrods (one trigger-guard perhaps an old replacement), French décharge mark, perhaps Nantes
