A Japanese gold lacquer table cabinet
with four short drawers over one long with bronze drop handles and a lock plate in the shape of a butterfly, a compartment with hinged doors, the top section with two sliding doors, decorated in iroe-hiramakie, nashiji, kanagai and onlaid in mother-of-pearl with a hen and a cockerel beside a cart full of flowers and foliage to the front, the top with two exotic long tailed birds perhced on rockwork beside water beneath branches in leaf, on a shaped plinth base with pierced foliate bronze mounts and hinges -- 14½in. (36.8cm) wide, (minor losses, some wear).
