A Cantonese oval dish painted and gilt with a central scene depicting a group of officials dismounting from horseback before a pavilion in a rocky river landscape, a boy attendant sweeping the entrance way to the pavilion, a figure seated at a window reading, visible inside -- 11¼in. (28.5cm.) wide; and an Arita blue and white dish with widely flaring rim and short foot, moulded in shallow relief with a single peony spray, the flattened rim with interlacing ruyi heads -- 9½in.
