Lot Essay

It is thought that this photograph of Paul's father's band showing a group of people around a bass drum suggested the concept for the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover to Paul McCartney.

Although the photograph in this lot is a copy print it is believed to be one of the only known copies to exist.
