A French bronze striking mantel clock, circa 1840
The drum-shaped case elaborately cast with flowerheads and fluting, on stepped square section base, with recessed panel to the front raised in relief with a scene of the Holy Family, with lanceolate leaf gallery and on block feet, the dial with gilt chapter ring with black painted Roman chapters and foliate cast centre, gilt moon hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell -- 14½in. (37cm.) high
