A French gilt-bronze striking mantel clock, circa 1840
The case surmounted by the figures of a courting couple in courtly costume, on waisted base with mounts cast with rocaille to the angles and central mount modelled with angels flanking an heraldic shield, with foliate cast gallery and feet, the white enamel dial with black painted Roman chapters within gilt borders (some cracks), pierced gilt-metal hands, signed Stévenard h.er M.cien A BOULOGNE S/M, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell and repeat signature with further stamp BAULLIER & FILS PARIS -- 19in. (48.5cm.) high
