A German ebonised quarter-striking bracket clock, second quarter 18th century
The inverted bell top case with elaborately cast brass handle centred by a flowerhead, arched glazed panels to the sides with engraved frets above, conforming quarter frets to the front door with cream painted gesso surround, conforming gilt surround to the all over foliate engraved dial, steel hands and mock pendulum aperture, the arch mounted with a cresting of two birds flanking a floral bouquet, with subsidiary dials for Repeat/Not Repeat and Strike/Silent flanking a plaque signed Michael Topscher Lutschow, the triple barrel movement with verge escapement, with quarter strike on bell (detached) and hour strike on further bell, pull trip quarter repeat -- 21½in. (54.5cm.) high
