A Victorian gilt-bronze mounted and cut brass inlaid simulated tortoiseshell quarter striking bracket clock, circa 1880
The case with waisted pediment with flambeau finials, quatrefoil sound frets above the bowed sides, with crowned herm mounts to the angles trailing bellflowers, on foliate cast toupie feet, the repoussé dial with individual white enamel Roman cartouche chapters and engraved outside minutes, steel hands (hour lacking), with mount below of faeries resting on foliate scrolls and flanking a cartouche panel inscribed with a presentation inscription dated 1887, the triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, hour strike on gong and quarter chimes on a nest of eight bells -- 23¼in. (59.5cm.) high
