A French pewter inlaid and gilt-bronze mounted faux scarlet tortoiseshell religeuse style striking mantel clock, circa 1880
The case with typical balustraded gallery to the part bell top with flambeau urn finials, arched panels to the sides and gilt-bronze capped pilasters to the front, on waisted base with bun feet, the gilt-brass chapter ring with cut out Roman numerals and engraved outside minutes, held aloft by a relief cast figure of Chronos with attributes to his side and mounted on a black velvet dial, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell -- 24in. (61cm.) high
