A Regency mahogany, ebonised and brass inlaid striking longcase regulator, circa 1825
The case with stepped hood with swan neck pediment above ripple moulded cornice, arched gilt brass tracery and rosette sound frets to the sides, chamfered front angles, conforming front angles to glazed front door within brass frame, on stepped plinth with quatrefoil mouldings, the silvered 11¾in. (30cm.) diameter regulator dial signed French Royal Exchange LONDON, strike/silent lever above 60, the five pillar Vulliamy type deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power, strike on later gong, steel rod to mercury pendulum swinging against silvered beat scale, suspended from a brass backplate with fine adjustment to the crutchpiece; with brass weight -- 83in. (211cm.) high
