A Webb 'Egyptian Dynasty' vase
engraved by J.T. Fereday, of cylindrical form on hollow knopped stem and stepped circular foot, etched, engraved and cut with with a scene depicting the god Horus receiving sacrificial offerings from the priest of Ptah, between oval panels of hieroglyphs, around the rim winged hawk heads, on chevron cut circular foot, 1922 -- 30cm. high

Lot Essay

This vase was commissioned by Aberdeen city council as a wedding gift for Princess Mary. It is part of a garniture comprising two vases and a pedestal bowl, all with the Egyptian theme, Fereday having been inspired by the recent discovery of Tutenkamun's tomb. Cf.
