manuscript on thin paper, containing a magic square of 100 x 100, each numbered in gold or colours forming a geometric pattern, coloured and gold margins, outer border of blue naskh - 42cm. sq.; another, on cloth, containing a similar magic square within a border of 4 x 4 squares, outer border of blue and black naskh - 64cm. sq., both Persia, 19th century; Illuminated bifolio from a Qur'an, manuscript on paper, with gold clouds between the lines of text, illuminated in gold and colours, Ottoman, 19th cenury - 29.6 x 19cm.; and two calligraphic exercises, Persian manuscript on paper, each with four lines of large black nast'liq, one signed by Malik al-Dilami(?) with the date 929, the other signed by Ahmad al-Hasani - larger 29.5 x 20cm.
