showing all aspects of Anglo-Indian life, including many humourous representations of army officers and other characters in various situations, sketches and watercolours of Indian monuments, many signed, a few prints and European scenes, India, mid-19th century, (some light wear, binding split at spine) - album 29 x 23cm.

Lot Essay

Many of the people portrayed are named; a selection includes Caruthers, Macaulay, Mrs Carstairs, Oliver Probyn, Ambassador White, Cols Jackson and Trevelyan. Most of the dated pictures date from the 1850s and many show scenes in 'Kurachee'. Two of the English scenes show buildings in Bedfordshire.
