PC are the initials of Philip Clissett. He moved to the outskirts of Bosbury in the early 1840's and carried out his craft from here during the rest of his long life. Clisset seems to have made chairs which embodied a simplicity of design and an ecomony of materials which had an influence on certain members of the Arts and Crafts movement later in the century. For a fuller discussion of this tradition see, B. Cotton The English Regional Chair, Woodbridge 1990, p.295-300
