[MANUSCRIPTS] A collection of copy manuscripts in one volume, including "On Construction and Calculations for Ships of War by James Inman," 4°, 13pp., with large folding pen-and-ink draught, also "On Constructions of Merchant Ships by Lieut. H. A. Sommerfeldt, R. N.," and "Notes from Fincham's Outline of Shipbuilding 3rd edition," thought to be in the hand of James Ronalds, with his ownership label and Scott bookplate to half roan binding. [Scott 808] With a folio manuscript in the same hand, containing English translations of Frederik Chapman, ownership marks of James Ronalds, 1855, and Scott Library label; and 2 unrelated manuscripts, one headed "On the Propelling Power of Iron-Plated Ships of War by Edward Ellis Allen, June 1862," the other in French entitled "Méthode de Calcul," dated 1863. With an original "Sheer Drawing for Twin Screw Belted Cruiser" on a scale of 1 in : 1 foot, made by Chatham Yard, 2820 x 660mm. (112 x 30in.), mounted on linen, and a smaller accompanying pen-and-ink and watercolour drawing of the cruiser's midship section. (6)
