Lot Essay

H.M.S. 'Armada' was one of the original sixteen "Battle" class destroyers and the first of the three ships built on the Tyne by Hawthorne Leslie to be completed. Launched in December 1943, she displaced 2,385 tons, was armed with four 4½ in. guns, and was capable of 35 knots under full power. After a long active service career in the fleet, she was finally laid up in 1960 and broken up in 1965
