L'Amoreuse and Eilun crossing the starting line off the Royal Yacht Squadron with the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert at Anchor in Cowes Harbour beyond

The yachts L'Amoreuse and Eilun were identical wooden-hulled racing cutters built by Stone Bros. at Brightlingsea, Essex, in 1903. Designed by A. Mylne, they were both registered at 24 tons net, measured 48¾ feet in length with an 11 foot beam and a 7 foot draught, and carried 2,007 square feet of sail. Both kept at Southampton, L'Amoreuse was owned by Mr. G.H. Marvin, whilst Eilun belonged jointly to Major the Hon. A. Greville and Mr. B. Fitzgerald.
