The barque Commercial, 335 tons, was built at Sunderland for the Hartlepool Commercial Shipping Company in 1840. With Stockton as her first home port, she traded initially out of Sunderland to Quebec but soon changed to sailings out of Hartlepool bound for a variety of destinations including South America (Lima), Ceylon and the Mediterranean before disappearing from record after 1855.
