Lot Essay

The brig Agenora was built by de Putron on Guernsey in 1865 for the local firm of Potter & Co. Registered at 230 tons, she measured 110 feet in length with a 25¼ foot beam and was initially employed running fruit and vegetables to the London markets. By 1870 she had changed her home port to London and thereafter traded out of the capital to the West Indies.
