Lot Essay

Sold with this lot is a bill for repair of the beadwork picture by the School of Embroidery in 1915 on which it is inscribed that it was formerly from a Chantry and a bead stool top. The screen is inscribed with the note, "Part of chenille embroidery wedding dress worked by Miss Maria Ismay of Mirfield Vicarage about 1778. She was married in this Dress and later presented at Court in it. There were 3 widths only in the skirt".
