An early Victorian bell metal travel alarm timepiece, mid 19th century
The drum-shaped case within an octagonal mahogany travel case, the hinge stamped FM & CO, with paper label for directions to the reverse, the gilt-brass dial with Roman chapter ring with black-painted numerals, blued hands, with revolving centre painted with an alarm hand, the backplate stamped 1740, with repeat stamp to the hammer striking on the side of the case, with lever balance -- 3 1/8in. (8cm.) wide
