A French gilt-bronze striking mantel clock, 19th century
The leaf cast case surmounted by a figure of Chronos, with panels to the sides pierced with flowers and geometric designs respectively, on four foliate scroll supports mounted with a figure of a woman in flowing robes to the front, the feet cast with rocaille, the white enamel Roman dialwithin a reeded bezel and signed F. Villemsens A PARIS (chip to left winding hole), blued moon hands, the later associated twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell, with repeat stamp to the backplate -- 17½in. (45cm.) high
