Forty-two albumen prints and four albumen print panoramas, the individual prints each approx. 8¼ x 10¼ in., thirteen titled in the negatives and eleven with oval blindstamp of Lambert & Co., four signed in the negatives Zangaki, each mounted on card, one two-part and one four-part panorama (Aden) 7½ x 20 in. and 7¼ x 36 in., one three-part and one four-part panorama (Hong Kong) 8¼ x 34 in. and 9 x 44in., each mounted on card, joints strengthened with linen tape, the majority titled in pencil on verso, in black cloth box with red leather title label on spine.

Lot Essay

Two panoramas and nine other views of Hong Kong including street scenes, the botanical gardens and the Peak; seven Canton scenes including the harbour, a view over the roof-tops and a fine Chinese interior; thirteen Singapore subjects comprising the market (illus.), a coconut plantation with workers, a sago 'manufactory', workers in the pepper fields, men washing reeds, 'Buggis men', a view of Tyersall from the botanical garden, the 'Bukit Timah Road', the Police Court and four street scenes, one showing a sprinkling cart, another of the bustling street in front of the Exchange; the remainder studies of Suez and Aden, including two views of the camel market.
