A TEPE SIALK POTTERY BEAK-SPOUTED RHYTON
CIRCA 1000-800 B.C.
The globular body with short neck and everted rim, with loop handle and long horizontal spout surmounted by a horse-head protome, decorated with brown 'sun-burst' pattern radiating out from the spout, the handle flanked by three rectangles ornamented with chequerboard and crosshatching, the neck with spots and chevrons, on the lower side of the body a spirited galloping horse, on the other a bull with high curving horns standing on a groundline of spots
12¾ in. (32.5 cm.) long; 9½ in. (24 cm.) high
