A fine late 19th-Century French silver-gilt miniature globe stand,
unsigned, the 2-inch (5cm.) internal diameter engraved horizon ring with slots for a meridian circle, divided into four quadrants, with the months, and symbols and names of the houses of the zodiac, raised on four engraved quadrant supports listing the latitudes and longitudes of BERLIN, PEKIN, LE CAIRE, VIENNE, PARIS, LONDRES, ROME and MADRID, mounted on a stepped pillar, on a four footed plinth with elaborate foliate decoration (horizontal fracture to centre of pillar) -- 3½in. (9cm.) high
