A 15-inch (38cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe, made up of twelve hand coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours (in Roman numerals), the ecliptic graduated in days and showing the symbols of the houses of the zodiac, the land masses outlined in colour, a line graduated in Roman numerals showing the Scale of Climate and AN IMPROVED ANALEMMA, the oceans showing the voyages of Captain Cook, Captain Gore, Captain Biscoe and Captain Ross, and the dates of discoveries and explorations (cracking with loss of paper and plaster, principally affecting the South Atlantic and equator), with brass meridian ring divided into four quadrants and hour ring graduated I-XII twice clockwise and I-XII twice anticlockwise, on mahogany tripod stand, the turned supports united by stretchers, the engraved paper horizon ring with decorative wheat ear border naming the months, houses of the zodiac and showing the stars and constellations (some rubbing with loss of image), together with;
NEWTON'S NEW AND IMPROVED CELESTIAL GLOBE On which all the Stars are taken from the elaborate and most approved Catalogue of Piazzi, the Nebulas from Bode and the double Stars and those with proper motions from Sonth. The Right Ascensions & Declinations of the whole having been recalculated and accurately laid down for the year 1840 BY Mr. W. NEWTON.
