Decorated with ebonised lines, the breakfront moulded cornice above a pair of brass trellis panel doors hung with green pleated silk, enclosing three adjustable shelves flanked on either side by a conforming curved door, the projecting base with a central tambour enclosing a green leather-lined writing surface and a fitted interior of pigeon holes and eight maple fronted short drawers above a twin oval panelled drawer fitted with a green leather-lined hinged writing surface, above an arched kneehole and concave fronted shelf, flanked to each side by two panelled doors, simulated as drawers, on square tapering legs with block feet, the sides re-veneered

The unusual design of this bureau cabinet with central tambour bureau flanked by panelled pedestals on tapering feet, relates to a design by Thomas Sheraton published in his The Cabinet Dictionary, London, 1803, pl.37.
