A pair of gilt-brass and tortoiseshell lorgnette opera glasses,
embossed on the eyepiece surrounds LUNETTE D'INVENTION ET DE PERFECTION, the body-tubes decorated with Champleré enamel bands of exotic birds, variously coloured and mounted between embossed bands of geometric and floral decoration, the mother-of-pearl adjuster with acanthus leaf mount, the tortoiseshell handle with gold cartouche engraved E.J., and inscribed on the underside 1839, 8 7BRE -- 4 3/8in. (11.1cm.) wide overall; and a two-draw gilt-brass 1¼-inch monocular, signed LEVASSEUR Ine INGr Opten, quai'del'horloge no 53 a Paris -- 4in. (10.2cm.) long extended (ivory outer body-tube with some cracks)
