A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound binocular microscope,
signed on the stand ROSS LONDON No. 2065, with rack and pinion coarse focusing, fine adjustment, the body-tubes located on an arm from the massive limb, incorporating the mechanical circuit stage, with friction arc and associated clamp lever, the two vertical supports raised from the spreading foot base, with sub-stage condenser adjusted by rack and pinion, plano-concave mirror, two pairs of eyepieces labelled A and B, a single eyepiece labelled C and another D, with 1/8-inch, ¼-inch, ½-inch, 1-inch and 2-inch objectives, signed Ross London, an achromatic condenser, an Abbe condenser, a double nose-piece, a leather-cased set of glass specimen tubes, and two drawers of fifteen slides each, and other items, contained in a fitted mahogany case -- 22¼in. (56.5cm.) high
