An 18th-Century Cuff-type brass microscope,
signed on the eared stage H. Shuttleworth, Ludgate Street, London, the body-tube with knurled bands, located on a limb from the rectangular-sectioned pillar, with sliding focus adjustment and fine screw motion, the stage with sprung slide and specimen glass holder, the pillar with scroll support, the base with plano-concave mirror, mounted on a mahogany plinth base with accessory drawer, containing a numbered set of six objectives, a talc box, a quantity of ivory sliders and frog plate, contained in a pyramid-shaped mahogany case with additional accessory drawer containing bull's-eye condenser, live-box and simulated fishskin-covered case with a quantity of ebony sliders, the carrying case -- 18½in. (47cm.) high
