signed Powell & Lealand, 4 Seymour Place, Euston Square, London, and dated 1855, the body-tube with twin angled supports, double nosepiece, rack and pinion coarse focusing with fine-screw adjustment, the mechanical stage with sprung slide holders, sub-stage wheel condenser and plano-concave mirror, with a case of miscellaneous accessories including live-box, eyepieces, a Crouch 1-inch objective in can, a 2-inch and a ¼-inch objective in can, all contained in a mahogany carrying case with swing handle -- 17in. (43.2cm.) high
