An unusual mid 19th-Century single cylinder horizontal reversing stationary engine,
the cylinder approx. 2in. bore x 4in. stroke, with brass plate engraved Chas. Sutton, Roll Turner, Wordsley, 1866, and with cylinder head draincock, overmounted valve chest with separate steamways, inlet manifold with main stop and governor valves, studded stuffing boxes, pedestal mounted piston rod guide and valve rod bearing trunnions, slip eccentric reverse with lift-off eccentric rod, webbed crank, centrally mounted spoked flywheel with 'V' belt pulley and chain and friction disc driven Watt governor, the decorative 'chimney' support with brass plate engraved 'Industry', finished in green red and polished brightwork, the black cast bed mounted on eight pedestals, the wooden base supported on eight ball feet -- 20 x 26in.
