Provenance
WILLIAM HAZLITT'S COPY, with his autograph signature on the title-page, and his notes on pp. 43, 53, 60, 361, 366, and 371 aggregating about forty-five words written in ink.
The name "Miss Parsons" appears on the front pastedown. Pasted on the front endpaper is a description which reads in part as follows: "Books from the Library of Charles and Mary Lamb. In 1841, through the instrumentality of B. W. Proctor, Mary Lamb was moved from Edmonton to the house of Mrs. Parsons, 41, Alpha Road, St. John's Wood, a Nurse (sister of Miss James, Mary Lamb's old Nurse). Mary lived here until her death, 1847, and the books now offered have, I believe, been in the possession of the descendants of Mrs. Parsons until they came into my possession ..."
