Lot Essay

The first work is the first collected edition of Lamb's poetry. It contains the poems printed in the Works (1818) and Album Verses (1830), and 10 new poems.
For two decades the second work, edited by Canon Ainger, was the standard edition of Lamb, chiefly on account of its admirable annotations. In particular his edition of the Letters, in 2 volumes (only one of which is present here), has never been superseded.
