WALLIS SIMPSON, DUCHESS OF WINDSOR (1896-1986)
Autograph letter signed ("Wallis Windsor") to Mrs. Frank Parkinson at Charters, Sunninghill, Berkshire, 7 pages, 4°, The Waldorf Towers, New York, Easter Sunday, 1947, in original stamped addressed envelope.
"The Duke of Windsor and myself wish to express our sincere gratitude to you for your kindness and generosity in putting Charters at our disposal for three weeks. It is very seldom that one finds such hospitality - particularly to strangers, and we are sincerely touched and very grateful to you. The Duke and I are most anxious not to cause any trouble or extra work in your house and that the servants we bring with us will help in any way so decided by your staff ... We have received the beautiful photographs of Charters - it really is a dream house and we can hardly wait to see it."
Envelope very worn.
With 2 informal photographs of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor walking in the grounds of Charters, 4¾ x 6½in. (3)
