Lot Essay

Although little is known about Strunz, they were clearly influenced by Steiff and produced copies of Steiff products adopting the similar trade mark of the button in the left ear. Steiff took legal action against the Company and Patented the button in left ear as their own trade mark.

This particular example illustrates quite clearly how influenced Strunz were by Steiff. The bear is dressed in an almost exact copy of the felt tunic worn by the Steiff Clowns which were produced as early as 1904.
