The design of this bear was inspired by the legendary painting by Otto Neubrand depicting Margarete Steiff holding a white bear. The likeness to Margarete Steiff was very good, however, the bear appeared to have rather pointed ears, even though this was not true of the real bear. To celebrate Margarete Steiff's 150th Birthday, Steiff have chosen this image of a bear with 'sharp ears' and produced only fifteen pieces in this special size.
Each Bear is hand produced and will never be commercially manufactured. The proceeds of all fifteen examples will be donated to charity.
