A collection of ten autograph or typescript letters, signed, various dates, 1977, to a B.B.C. T.V. producer giving the various signatories' responses to a request to participate in a T.V. documentary series to be presented by Barry Norman called All Time Cinema Greats, various letters include:
- An autograph letter, signed, from Fred Astaire, December 15th, 1976, on Royal Hibernian Hotel, Dawson St. Dublin... headed paper, stating ...I am not interested in the project at any price and will not be a participant.... 1p;
- An autograph letter, signed, from Princess Grace of Monaco, October 13th, 1977, on 18 Square De L'Avenue Foch, 75116 Paris headed paper, referring to a saga concerning a T.V.tape and stating ...I am very pleased however to know that the series was well received - with many apologies, Sincerely, Grace de Monaco 2pp and corresponding envelope;
- A typescript letter, signed, from Paul Newman, January 30th, 1977, on personalized stationery, stating ...I feel peculiar turning down your request. I am, at present, living in semi-retirement, mostly because I am so bored by the sound of my own voice....I confess the British audiences are my favorite, so this is done not without some difficulty, Sincerely, Paul Newman 1p;
