Spider-Man's real name was Peter Parker. In his youth ...Parker is bitten by a mutant spider which somehow imparts its arachnid skills to him. Discovering that he now has enormous strength and awesome climbing ability, Parker decides to become a crime-fighter, for which he adopts the persona of Spider-Man. Clad in a red and blue uniform decorated with black webbing and armed with a 'webshooter', he pursues baddies wherever they may lead him - which usually means up and down the sheer faces of New York skyscrapers.. This Super-Hero was created by scriptwriter Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko and appeared in the Marvel comic from 1962 onwards. In the 1978 T.V. series Spider-Man was played by Nicholas Hammond.
