Swiss or German, mid-16th Century
The broad straight double-edged blade with ricasso and on each face of the forte, triple fullers stamped 'Andrea Ferara' and an incised running wolf mark, the hilt with slender arched quillons terminating in writhen knops, arms and double side-rings linked round the base of the blade by a symmetrical guard of interlaced bars, writhen fig-shaped pommel, and bottle-shaped leather-covered wooden grip
